UB Women's Gymnastics Takes Second Place At Penn Quad Meet
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 193.875 On Sunday
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took second place in a quad-meet hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights posted a team total of 193.875. Penn State won the event with a score of 196.200, and West Chester University took behind UB with a score of 192.950 and the host Quakers were fourth with a total of 191.475.
As team Bridgeport scored 48.950 in the floor exercise, 48.900 on the vault, 48.350 on the bars and 47.675 on the balance beam.
On the vault, freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) and senior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) tied for first place with scores of 9.875.
UB senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took second place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.925, and Reimers, who finished fifth in Sunday's all-around with a score of 38.925 in the four events, took fourth place on the floor with a score of 9.875.
Comport was also the Purple Knights' top finisher on the beam finishing in fifth place with a score of 9.750.
On the bars, senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) and sophomore Maritza Futch (Atlanta, Ga.) were the top UB finishers tying for eighth place with scores of 9.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will have a quick turnaround, as the Purple Knights will host their final home meet of the 2017 season in the Wheeler Recreation Center on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday action will be a quad-meet featuring UB, Brown, Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College.
