Bridgeport Gymnastics Battles Versus UCLA And Utah State
Team back In Action At Home On Sunday Against Air Force
Los Angeles, Calif.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took on some strong Division I competition on Monday afternoon in UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, as the Purple Knights put up a strong fight as they finished third in a tri-meet with the host Bruins and Utah State. UB totaled 193.225 on the day, as UCLA won the meet with a score of 195.875 and Utah State was second at 195.700.
As a team, UB scored 49.000 in the floor exercise for the second highest score in that event on Monday, 48.300 on the vault, 47.175 on the balance beam and 48.750 on the bars.
Senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y) tied for fourth place in Monday's floor exercise with scores of 9.850, and senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) tied for sixth in the same event with a score of 9.825.
Senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) was the team's top finisher on the bars tying seventh place at UCLA with a score of 9.800.
Junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Reimers were the Purple Knights' top finishers on the vault with scores of 9.575 place them in twelfth place on the day.
On the vault, senior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) tied for eighth place with a score of 9.750 to lead UB.
In the All-Around on Monday, Kelsey Campbell placed second with a score of 38.750 in the four events and Maya Reimers was third with a total of 38.675.
