Bridgeport Gymnastics To Recognize The Life Of Manny Bonilla On Tuesday, March 7th
Former UB Assistant Coach Will Be Honored At Purple Knights' Home Meet Versus Brown, Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College
Bridgeport, Conn.-It is with heavy hearts that the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team announces an upcoming home competition will honor the life of former assistant coach, Manuel Bonilla, who passed away on February 5th after a courageous battle against cancer.
Manny coached alongside head coach Byron Knox when he took over the UB program for the 2004-2005 season.
He truly was a special person who had a talent to motivate and inspire his athletes. Following his time coaching at Bridgeport, Bonilla continued as head coach for C.A.T.S. Gymnastics in Cheshire, as well as serving as the assistant coach for the competitive Acro-tumbling team at Quinnipiac University. Manny was well-loved and known across Connecticut for his love of gymnastics. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In his honor, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics program would like to dedicate its upcoming home meet on Tuesday, March 7th versus Brown, Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College to our friend and coach. We encourage local club teams and all those who knew Manny to come out and support this memorable event.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Wheeler Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Bridgeport.
