Women's Gymnastics Takes Second at Cornell Big Red Invitational
Team Back In Action At UCLA On Monday, February 20th
Ithaca, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team placed second at the four-team Big Red Invitational hosted by Cornell University on Saturday afternoon. UB posted a team score of 193.225 to finish second behind Cornell, as the Big Red finished the meet with a score of 194.450. Brockport State finished in third place with a total of 189.550, and Ithaca College placed fourth with a team score of 189.150.
As a team, UB scored 49.025 in the floor exercise, 48.300 on the vault, 48.075 on the balance beam and 47.825 on the bars.
Seniors Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) tied for first place in Saturday's floor exercise competition, as they each tallied scores of 9.900.
On the vault. UB's Hope Tralli (Sr., Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) and freshman Nina Whittaker (Salem, N.H.) were the top finishers, as they also tied for first place with scores of 9.800.
Freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y) took first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.875 on Saturday.
Senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) was the team's top finisher on the bars taking fifth place at Cornell with a score of 9.725.
Junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) placed second in the All-Around on Saturday, as she scored a total of 38.575 in the four events.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to the West Coast to compete in a Presidents' Day Meet at UCLA next Monday, that will featured the host Bruins plus Utah State.
