Women's Gymnastics Posts Dual Meet Win At Brown, 194.050-190.275
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Saturday At Yale's Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational
Providence, R.I.-For the second straight meet, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team traveled to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and for the second consecutive time, the Purple Knights finished in first place; this time topping the host Bears in a dual meet, 194.050-190.275.
UB won all four team events on Friday evening, as UB scored 48.250 on the bars, 48.250 on the vault, 48.475 in the floor exercise and 48.800 on the balance beam.
Senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took first place on the beam and in the floor exercise with identical scores of 9.875.
Bridgeport swept the podium on the balance beam, as junior Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) and junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) and freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) tied for third place with a score of 9.750.
Reimers also tied for second place in the floor exercise with a personal best score of 9.825.
On the bars, senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) tied for first place with a score 9.750, and classmate Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) took third place with a score of 9.700.
Stewart was Bridgeport's top finisher on the vault with a score of 9.725, which was good for second place.
In the all-around, Kelsey Campbell took first place on Friday night with a total score of 38.675 in the four events.
The UB women's gymnastics team wraps up a busy weekend of action tomorrow afternoon at Yale University, when the Purple Knights take part in the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational along with Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College.
