Women's Gymnastics Strong In Tri-Meet Victory At Temple
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 194.225 To Win The Event
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team traveled to the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday, and it was a sunny day in Philadelphia, as the Purple Knights won a tri-meet hosted by the Owls of Temple University. UB totaled 194.225 points on the day to take first place. Penn took second place with a score of 191.900, and the host Owls finished in third place with 190.500 points.
Bridgeport took first place in the floor exercise (48.825) and on the balance beam (48.550), and the Purple Knights were second on the bars (48.725) and on the vault (48.125).
On the vault, UB junior Ajiea Hargrave (Allentown, Pa.) continued her fine first season in the Park City by taking first place with a score of 9.825.
In the floor exercise, senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) and junior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) finished in a first place tie for Bridgeport with scores of 9.825.
The Purple Knights placed one-two-three on the balance beam, as Comport finished in first (9.800), junior Hope Tralli (Croton-On Hudson, N.Y.) tied for second place (9.750) and sophomore Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) took third place (9.725).
Junior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Ill.) finished the top Bridgeport competitor on the bars tying for third place with a score of 9.800.
In Saturday's all-around, sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) took second place with a total of 38.125 in the four events.
The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team is back in action at home this Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m., when the Purple Knights host Yale University in this season's Senior Night Meet.
