Bridgeport Gymnastics Captures Sunday's Quad Meet At Southern Connecticut State
Purple Knights Have Top Finisher In Each Of The Four Events
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team captured first place in a quad meet hosted by Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights posted a team score of 194.125. The Purple Knights opened the day with a 48.600 in the floor exercise followed by a score of 48.200 on the vault, 48.600 on the bars, and UB wrapped things up with a 48.725 on the balance beam. Brown finished second behind Bridgeport with 192.750 points, followed by Yale at 191.300 and the host Owls at 189.075.
The Purple Knights had the first place finisher in each of the four events on Sunday, as senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) tied for first in the floor exercise at 9.800, junior Hope Tralli (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) tied for first on the vault at 9.750, junior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) won the bars with a career-best score of 9.875, and Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and sophomore Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) tied for first place on the balance beam with scores of 9.825.
Bridgeport sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) took second place in Sunday's all-around competition with a total of 38.550 in the four events.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's gymnastics team heads to our nation's heartland for a four-team meet hosted by the University of Nebraska next Saturday, February 27. Action is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. Central Time.
