Women's Gymnastics Win Dual Meet At Brown With Season-High Team Score Of 194.825
Purple Knights Win Meet, 194.825-194.000
Providence, R.I.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a season-high team total score of 194.825 on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights topped the host Brown University Bears in dual meet action, 194.825-194.000. Sunday's score surpasses the previous season-high total of 194.525 from UNH Wildcat Invitational on February 7.
The Purple Knights won all four events on Sunday totaling a season-best 49.050 on the beam, 48.550 on both the bars and the floor exercise and 48.675 on the vault.
On the beam, UB junior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took first place with a record-tying score of 9.900, and sophomore Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) grabbed second place with a career-best 9.850. Junior Rachel DiCarlo (Harleysville, Pa.) finished tied third on beam at 9.800.
On the bars, sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.), who finished third in the all-around on Sunday with a total score of 38.825 for the four events, took second place with a score of 9.775, and classmate Brielle Wilchuck (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)tied for third place in the event with a score of 9.750.
On the vault, Bridgeport junior Hope Tralli (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) won the event with a career-high score of 9.825, and fellow junior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham. Mass.) tied for second place with a score of 9.750.
In the floor exercise, senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) and junior Ajiea Hargrave (Allentown, Pa.) finished as the top Purple Knights tying for third place with scores of 9.800.
The UB women's gymnastics team is back in action next Sunday, February 21 for a quad-meet at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven.
Briana Comport posted a record-tying score of 9.900 to win the beam on Sunday.
