Purple Knights Post 193.525-187.350 Dual Meet Women's Gymnastics Win Over Southern Connecticut State
Team Back In Action At Brown On Sunday Afternoon
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team won all four events on Friday night, as the Purple Knights posted a 193.525-187.350 home dual meet win over the visiting Owls of Southern Connecticut State University on Alumni Night at UB.
The Purple Knights tallied scores of 48.150 on the vault, 48.275 on the bars, 48.275 on the beam and 48.825 in the floor exercise.
On the vault, Bridgeport went 1-2-3 with junior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham. Mass.) taking first place (9.775), classmate Ajiea Hargrave (Allentown, Pa.) in second (9.750) and sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) tying for third (9.575).
Campbell took first in the all-around on Friday with a total of 38.550 for the four events, as she also tied for second on the bars (9.725) and the balance beam 99.700) and scored 9.550 in the floor exercise.
On the bars, UB sophomore Brielle Wilchuck (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) won the event (9.750) and junior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Ill.) tied with Campbell for second (9.725).
On the balance beam, sophomore Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) took first for the Purple Knights with a score of 9.725, and junior Rachel DiCarlo (Harleysville, Pa.) tied for second place with Campbell at 9.700.
In the floor exercise, senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) and junior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) finished in a first place tie for Bridgeport with scores of 9.825.
The UB women's gymnastics team will wrap up a busy weekend of action at Brown University on Sunday afternoon. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
