Women's Gymnastics Wraps Up Busy Stretch Four Meets In Seven Days At William & Mary
Host Tribe Tops Purple Knights By Close Score Of 195.00-194.675
Williamsburg, Va.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team completed a busy week of action by competing in a dual meet at William & Mary on Saturday night. Saturday's meet marked the fourth competition in the last seven days for the Purple Knights, who fell to the host Tribe by a tight score of 195.00-194.675.
On Saturday, Purple Knight gymnasts won two individual events, as sophomore Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took first on the beam (9.875) and senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) won the floor exercise (9.950). Fellow senior Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) took second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.925.
On the bars, Tsikhanovich and sophomore Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) tied for second place with a score of 9.875, and the duo went two-three on the vault with Stewart taking second place (9.925) and Sasha grabbing third (9.900).
In Saturday's all-around competition, Tsikhanovich finished in third place tallying a total of 38.900 in the four events.
Next Saturday, the UB women's gymnastics team will be looking for its seventh consecutive ECAC Division II Team Title at the 2015 ECAC Division II Championship Meet host by Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. Action is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
