UB Gymnastics Takes Second In Maryland Quad Meet And Senior Sasha Tsikhanovich Takes Another All-Around Title
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 194.075 On Sunday
College Park, Md.-For the second straight day, UB senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) won the all-around competition (39.325), and the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team placed second in a meet against some tough opposition. This time the Purple Knights took part in a quad meet hosted by the University of Maryland and post a strong team total of 194.075 after last night's season-best 194.750 at Rutgers. Maryland took first place with a score of 196.000. William & Mary was third with a total of 193.600, and Southern Connecticut State was fourth with a score of 189.325.
On Sunday, Tsikhanovich took second place in three events, the vault (9.825), the bars (9.850) and the floor exercise (9.900), and she was fifth on the beam (9.750)
Sophomore Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) turned in Bridgeport's top score on the balance beam finishing in fourth place with a score of 9.775.
The UB women's gymnastics team is next in action at home in the Wheeler Recreation Center on Wednesday night, when the Purple Knights host Brown in a dual meet at 7:00 p.m.
