Bridgeport Women's Gymnastics Team Picks Up Tri-Meet Win At Cornell With Team Total Of 193.750

Ithaca, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team turned in another solid performance on Saturday afternoon, s the Purple Knights won a tri-meet at Cornell University with a team score of 193.750.  As a team, UB won three of the four events taking the vault (47.975), the bars (48.825) and the floor exercise (48.975).  William & Mary took second place on Saturday with a team total of 192.975, and host Cornell was third with a team score of 190.450.

Bridgeport senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) won three individual events and took first place in Saturday all-around competition with a total of 39.300.  Tsikhanovich won the vault (9.775), the bars (9.850) and tied for first place in the floor exercise with teammate Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) with a score of 9.875.

Sophomore Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass._ continued her stellar second season at Bridgeport by taking second place on the bars ((.825) and third place in the vault (9.700).

Up next for the UB women's gymnastics team is the Purple Knight's lone home meet of the 2015 season on Thursday, March 5 when Bridgeport hosts, Brown, Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College in the Wheeler Recreation Center at 7:00 p.m.  Thursday's meet will start a stretch of three meets in four days for the Purple Knights.
