Bridgeport Gymnastics Wins Yale Quad Meet With Season-High Team Score Of 193.450 Points
Senior Sasha Tsikhanovich Wins Saturday's All-Around Competition Plus Two Individual Events
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics squad posted a 2015 season-best team score of 193.450, as the Purple Knights won a quad meet hosted by Yale University on Saturday afternoon. The host Bulldogs took second place on Saturday with a total of 191.375, Southern Connecticut State was third with a score of 190.825 and Rhode Island College was fourth with a total of 176.660. In Saturday's four events, the Purple Knights tallied 48.650 in the floor exercise, 48.475 on the vault, 48.775 on the balance beam and 47.550 on the bars.
Bridgeport senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) won Saturday's all-around competition posting a total score of 38.900 in the four events. Tsikhanovich took first place in two events winning the balance beam (9.900) and the floor exercise (9.850).
Sophomore Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took second place behind Sasha in both those events recording a 9.800 on the beam and a 9.800 in the floor exercise.
On the vault, UB's Kimberly Stewart (So., Eastham, Mass.) captured first place with an impressive score of 9.990. Teammate Kelsey Campbell (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev.) took third on the vault with a score of 9.700.
Sophomore Amber Hill (Windsor Locks, Conn.) was the Purple Knights' top finisher on the bars, as she tied for third place with a score of 9.675.
Next on the schedule of the Bridgeport women's gymnastics team is a trip to Pennsylvania next Saturday to face West Chester University, Ursinus and Rhode Island College. Action gets underway at West Chester at 1:00 p.m. on February 7.
