UB Gymnastics Takes Second Place At Brown Quad Meet
Senior Sasha Tsikhanovich Takes In The All-Around After Winning The Floor Exercise And Taking Second On The Beam And Bars
Providence, R.I.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took second place in a quad meet hosted by Brown University on Saturday night posting a team score of 191.500. The host Bears took first place on Saturday evening with a score of 192.375 followed by the Purple Knights. Rhode Island College took third place with a score of 177.925, and the University of Rhode Island was fourth with a score of 170.650.
UB senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) took second in Saturday's all-around competition with a total score of 38.475 in the four events, as she took first place in the floor exercise (9.975, a school record) and was second on the beam (9.700) and the bars (9.7.00).
UB went 1-2-3 in the floor exercise as Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) took second place with a score of 9.875, and sophomore Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was third with a score of 9.800.
On the vault, Bridgeport sophomore Hope Tralli (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y) won the event with a score of 9.750, and freshman Kimberly Stewart (Las Vegas, Nev.) took third place with a score of 9.650.
Up next for the UB women's gymnastics team is a short trip to New Haven for a quad meet next Saturday, January 31 hosted by Yale University. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
