Bridgeport Women's Gymnastics Closes Out Season With Several Strong Performance In 2014 USAG Individual Event Finals
Sunday Action Highlighted By Melissa Doucette And Caitlin Perry Winning Floor Exercise Event
Providence, R.I.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team, which captured its sixth straight USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Team National Championship on Saturday night, closed out its 2014 season with several fine performances in the USAG Individual Events Finals on Sunday to close out the 2014 USAG Championship Weekend at Brown University.
Highlighting Sunday's action was UB's Melissa Doucette (Sr., Somersworth, N.H.) and Caitlin Perry (Jr., N. Kingston, R.I.) tying for first place in the floor exercise with scores of 9.8750.
On the beam on Sunday, freshman Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) tied for third on the beam with a score of 9.7550, and Melissa Doucette tied for fourth on the vault with a score of 9.7750. Senior Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, Calif.) closed out her stellar UB career by tying for fourth on the bars with a score of 9.8250.
A total of 12 University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics performances earned All-American honors over the weekend at the 2014 USA Gymnastics National Championships.
