Women's Gymnastics Returns To Action At The University of Nebraska
Senior Lissette La Fex Shines As Purple Knights Face Strong Competition
Lincoln, Neb.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took on some top-notch Division I programs on Sunday afternoon in a quad-meet hosted by the University of Nebraska. UB finished third in the meet with a team total of 190.350 points. The host Cornhuskers won the meet with a score of 196.850. The University of Kentucky took second place on Sunday with a total of 195.200, and Wisconsin-Stout finished fourth with a team total of 188.650. Sunday's meet was the Purple Knights first action since February 1.
Bridgeport senior Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, California) had an outstanding afternoon for the Purple Knights finishing third in the all-around with a total score of 39.000 for all four events. La Fex was her team's top finisher in all four events on Sunday, as she tied for fifth on the bars (9.850), took ninth on the vault (9.800) and was tenth the beam (9.600) and eleventh in the floor exercise (9.750).
Up next for head coach Byron Knox and the Purple Knights is a trip to Penn State University this Friday night, February 28, when UB will compete with the Nittany Lions, Yale and Western Michigan. Action is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
