UB Women's Gymnastics Wins Four-Team Yale Invitational With Team Total Of 192.275 Points
Senior Lissette La Fex Wins Second Consecutive All-Around title
New Haven, Conn.-For the second straight meet, senior Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, California) won the all-around title, as she helped the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team win the four-team, Yale University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights took first place with a team score 192.275. Brown was second with a score of 191.075. Southern Connecticut State was third with a total of 188.650 points; followed by Yale in fourth place with a team score of 187.125.
La Fex posted a total score of 38.650 in the afternoon's four events, as she won the bars with a score of 9.800, tied for third in the floor exercise with a score of 9.725 and tied for fifth in the vault with a score of 9.725.
On the vault, Bridgeport senior Melissa Doucette (Somersworth, N.H.) won the event with a score of 9.825 and senior Kamri Riles (Ellenwood, Georgia) tied for second place with a score of 9.800.
Riles and junior Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) tied for first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.775.
Freshman Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was the Purple Knights top finisher on the balance beam grabbing fifth place with a score of 9.675.
The Bridgeport women's gymnastics team will now be idle until they head for the University of Nebraska for a quad-meet on Sunday afternoon, February 23.
