UB's Sasha Tsikhanovich Wins USAG Floor Exercise Title
Purple Knights Close Our 2013 Women's Gymnastics Season With Several Strong Performances In USAG Event Finals
Shreveport, La.-The five-time defending USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Team Champion University of Bridgeport Purple Knights wrapped up the record-setting 2013 season with a fine showing in the 2013 USAG Event Finals which were hosted by Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, Louisiana.
2013 USAG All-Around Champion, UB's Sasha Tsikhanovich (Soph., Marysville, Ohio) closed out her season with a bang, as she won the floor exercise title with a score of 9.925, and took third place on the balance beam (9.850), tied for fifth on the bars (9.775) and took eight in the vault (9.750).
Bridgeport sophomore Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) finished in a tie for fifth place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.800.
Senior Monica Mesalles Sallares (Barcelona, Spain) closed out her phenomenal Bridgeport career with sixth place tie in the vault (9.7625).
Graduate student Lorraine Galow (Suwanee, Georgia), who battled back from injury to help UB to this season's USAG team title and berth in the NCAA Championships, finished her stellar time at the University of Bridgeport with as fifth place finish on the balance beam with a score of 9.800. Galow also received the USAG's Mari-Rae Soper Spirit Award for her passion, dedication, and devotion to the sport of gymnastics.
Junior Kamri Riles (Ellenwood, Georgia) took eleventh place on the bars with a score of 9.650.
