UB Gymnastics Performs Well But Falls At # 18 Ohio State, 196.850-194.300

Columbus, Ohio-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team travelled to the number 18 ranked Ohio State University Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon, and the Purple Knights put up a strong performance falling to OSU by a score of 196.850-194.300.

Senior Monica Mesalles Sallares (Barcelona, Spain) tied for first place on the vault with a score of 9.900, and she tied for second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.900.

Sophomore Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) returned to her home state and took third in Saturday's all-around scoring a total of 39.175 in the four events.  Sasha tied for second on the balance beam with a score of 9.825, and she tied for fourth in the floor exercise (9.850) and was fifth in the vault (9.825).

Senior Natalie Saimeri (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the Purple Knights' top finisher on the bars taking seventh with a score of 9.700.

The UB gymnastics team is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Brown University to face the host Bears plus Rhode Island College and Springfield College.  Action is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
