Bridgeport Gymnasts Strong At NCAA Raleigh Regional
Monica Mesalles Sallares And Emily Repko Finish In Top Ten On Balance Beam
Raleigh, N.C.-The three members of the University of Bridgeport gymnastics team that competed at Saturday's NCAA Raleigh Regional held their own with the best gymnasts in the entire nation.
Junior Monica Mesalles Sallares (Barcelona, Spain) tied for thirteenth place in the all-around competition with a total of 38.525. Mesalles Sallares and senior Emily Repko (Gilbertsville, Pa.) finished in the top-ten on the balance beam, as Monica tied for third with a score of 9.850 and Emily tied for ninth with a score of 9.800.
Mesalles Sallares was also strong in the floor exercise, as she finished tied for twelfth place with a score of 9.800.
Sophomore Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, Calif.) tied for sixteenth on the bars with a score of 9.800.
Up next, the UB gymnastics team will look to win its fourth consecutive USA Gymnastics Collegiate Team Title over next weekend as the Purple Knights host the event from April 12 through April 14. Bridgeport is in action at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at UB's Hubbell Gym, and the team finals will take place on Friday night in the Webster Bank Arena.
