National Champion Gymnasts And Men's Swimmers To Be Honored By Bridgeport City Council On Monday, April 18th
Student-Athletes To Be Recognized t 7:00 p.m. In The City Council Chambers Located at 45 Lyon Terrace In Bridgeport.
Bridgeport, Conn.-On Monday, April 18, 2011, the Bridgeport City Council will honor the 2011 University of Bridgeport gymnastics team which won its third straight USA Gymnastics Collegiate Team National Championship on Saturday, April 9th plus members of the 2010-11 UB men's swimming team that captured national titles at this season's NCAA Division II National Championship which was held in early March. The teams will be recognized by the City Council with a special citations prior to its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 45 Lyon Terrace in Bridgeport.
All members of the 2011 UB gymnastics team will be recognized on Monday along with men's swimmers, Pitor Safronczyk (a two-time NCAA 100-yard breaststroke championship), Oscar Pereiro (2011 NCAA 100-yard backstroke champions) plus Nikola Savic and Toni Valcic, who along with Safronczyk and Pereiro, earned Bridgeport national title in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relays.
