Purple Knight Gymnasts Score A Season-High 192.825 Points At Maryland Quad Meet
Emily Repko Takes First Place On The Beam And Monica Mesalles Tops 39.000 Mark In The All-Around For Third Straight Day
College Park, Md.-The University of Bridgeport gymnastics team wrapped up a busy weekend of action that saw the Purple Knights compete in three meets in three consecutive days by scoring a season-high 192.825 points as they took second place in a quad meet hosted on Sunday afternoon by the University of Maryland. The host Terps won the event with a score of 195.450. UB was second followed by Temple with a score of 190.150 and William & Mary was fourth with a total of 187.750.
Bridgeport sophomore Monica Mesalles (Barcelona, Spain) finished second in the all-around on Sunday, as she posted a score of over 39.00 for the third straight day with a total in her four events of 39.025. Monica took second in the vault (9.875) and in the floor exercise (9.825). She was the highest Bridgeport finisher on the bars taking sixth place (9.725), and Mesallles was 12th on the beam with a score of 9.600
Junior Emily Repko (Gilbertsville, Pa.) grabbed first place on the beam for the Purple Knights with a score of 9.850.
Bridgeport will be back in action next Sunday afternoon at Brown where they will face the host Bears and Southern Connecticut State University.
