Gymnastics Scores Season-High 192.150 Points At New Hampshire
Sophomore Monica Mesalles Wins All-Around In Dual Meet With The Wildcats
Durham, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport gymnastics squad amassed a season-high in team points on Sunday afternoon as the Purple Knights fell in a dual meet against the host Division I University of New Hampshire Wildcats, 194.025-192.150.
Sophomore Monica Mesalles (Barcelona, Spain) helped UB to its season-high score on Sunday by winning the all-around with a score of 38.800. Monica's top events were a tie for first place in the vault with a score of 9.850 and a tie for second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.800.
On the balance beam, junior Emily Repko (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was the Purple Knights top finisher as she tied for first place with a score of 9.875. This is the third consecutive week that Repko has grabbed the top spot on the beam.
As a team, Bridgeport won the bars event outpointing the Wildcats, 47.575 to 47.425. Freshman Emily Turik (Crystal Lake, Il.) and sophomore Adriana Panades Erra (St. Julia de Vilatorta (Barcelona), Spain) were the top UB gymnasts in the event as they tied for fourth place with scores of 9.650. Monica Mesalles was sixth on the bars with a total of 9.500.
The Bridgeport gymnastics team will return to action next Friday night, February 4th, at Rutgers University in a tri-meet with Brown.
