Purple Knights Edged 72-70 In Non-Conference Women's Hoops Tilt At Concordia (N.Y.) College
Three Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring For The Purple Knights
Bronxville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team held a slim 60-59 lead entering the fourth quarter, but the visiting Purple Knights could not build on that advantage, as they fell to the host Concordia (N.Y.) College Clippers, 72-70, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. UB is now 0-5 on the season, and Concordia picks up its first win of the 2019-20 season to move to 1-5 overall.
Freshman Gracen Kerr (Ansonia, Conn.) led UB with 18 points on the day, and she also chipped in nine assists and grabbed six rebounds playing the full 40 minutes of action.
Junior Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.) reached double-digit scoring on Saturday netting 12 points, and classmate Kyle Felton (Lithonia, Ga.) finished with a double-double for the Purple Knights of 12 points and 10 boards.
Freshman Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had 10 rebounds for Bridgeport.
Concordia's Nicole Nicholson led all players in Saturday's contest with 23 points.
The Clippers used the three-point shot to their advantage on Saturday, as they went 10-for-23 from long distance.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team returns to Hubbell Gym to face Felician University in a pre-Thanksgiving matinee at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
