Samnell Vonleh Named 2019 ECC Women's Basketball Defensive Player Of The Year
Senior Also Earned A Spot On The First Team All-Conference Squad
West Babylon, N.Y.-Senior center Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott. Mass.) has been named the 2019 East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the First Team All-ECC Squad as selected by a vote of league coaches and announced prior to the start on Saturday of the ECC Championship semifinals hosted by the University of Bridgeport.
Vonleh was a dominant force in the paint all season long for the Purple Knights averaging a team-best 15.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game which also ranked her number three in the ECC in those categories.
She also led the league in blocked shots swatting away 75 attempts throughout the 2018-19 campaign.
