Lakewood, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team evened its season record at 3-3 and picked up its second straight victory, as the Purple Knights defeated the host Lions of Georgian Court University, 73-58, on Saturday afternoon in New Jersey. With the loss, GCU remains winless on the season at 0-7.
UB senior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) led all scorers in the game wit 25 points, and she also grabbed nine rebounds for the winners.
She was joined in double figures by classmate Sarah Middleton (Barrington, R.I.) with 15 points, and junior Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted 10 points off the UB bench.
UB lead 31-29 at the half and broke the contest open by outscoring the hosts, 17-8, in the third quarter.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will open East Coast Conference play at home on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against the University of the District of Columbia.
