Division I Transfer Kyle Felton Set To Join UB Women's Basketball Program For The 2018-19 Season
Georgia Native Brings Her Talents To Bridgeport from The University of Southern Mississippi
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's basketball program has announced that center Kyle Felton will be joining the team for the upcoming season.
A native of Lithonia, Georgia, the 6-3 center is coming to the Park City after completing her junior season at the University of Southern Mississippi.
"Kyle is an excellent communicator on and off of the court. She's mobile and will be a force inside. Kyle has great hands and the ability to catch and finish in traffic," stated University of Bridgeport head coach Janie Mitchell. "She brings valuable Division I experience to the court and weight room. I expect her to be an awesome representative of our women's basketball program and our University."
Felton averaged 10.3 minutes per game and received six starting nods out of the 26 contests she played in for the Golden Eagles averaging 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game, plus she ranked in the top-ten on her squad in blocked shots, free throws and field goal percentages last season.
During her standout prep career at Columbia High School, Felton averaged 10 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and eight blocked shots per game. She was named 2014 Miss Basketball, Regional Offensive Player of The Year and to the All-Region team. She also won the MVP honors of two tournaments and the DeKalb Player of the Month award after taking her Columbia team to back-to-back state championships.
Said Coach Mitchell, "We are ecstatic to get a player and person of Kyle's caliber at the University of Bridgeport. I know that her presence in the classroom, community and on the court will be felt immediately."
The Purple Knights tip off their 2018-19 season slate on November 10th against the University of New Haven.
