Women's Basketball Falls In Heartbreaker At The Buzzer To Queens (N.Y.) College, 62-59
UB's Kadijah Dickson Finishes With A Double-Double Of 24 Points And 10 Rebounds
Bridgeport, Conn.-A three-point shot at the buzzer by Queens (N.Y.) College's Beth Bonin lifted the visiting Knights to a 62-59 win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in Hubbell Gym. UB, which never led in the game, had tied the game at 59-59 with 6.1 seconds to play when junior Sierra Gerald (Paterson, N.J.) hit one-of-three free throws after being fouled on a long-distance shot attempt. With the heart-breaking loss, Bridgeport is now 5-13 overall and 2-6 in the East Coast Conference. Queens is now an even 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the ECC.
Bridgeport sophomore Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) had a fine afternoon for the Purple Knights finishing with a double-double of a season-high 24 points, which led all scorers in the game, and 10 rebounds. Dickson also added four steals on the day.
Junior Sarah Middleton (Barrington, R.I.) joined Dickson in double figures with a season-high 12 points.
UB's Morgen Caution (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and chipped in eight points and five steals.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will open a three-game road trip looking to snap a three-game losing skid next Saturday afternoon versus Mercy College in a game that will be played at the College of Mount St. Vincent. Tip-off is slated for 12 noon on January 20.
