Big Third Quarter Helps Lift Adelphi To Women's Basketball Victory Over Host Purple Knights
UB Right Back In Action On Saturday At Southern New Hampshire
Bridgeport, Conn.-Trailing 27-22 at the half, the visiting Adelphi University Panthers outscored the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 24-9, in the decisive third quarter, and they never looked back on their way to a 69-57 non-conference women's basketball win on Friday night. Bridgeport is now 4-9 on the season, and the win evens Adelphi's season mark at 7-7.
Despite only shooting 37.5 percent overall from the floor for the game (24-of-64), the victorious Panthers used the three-point as huge weapon hitting 10 shots from beyond the arc. AU's Fallyn Stephens, who led all scorers in the game with 22 points, hit 6-of-10 shots from three-point range.
Sophomore Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) led UB in scoring with 18 points and fell just short of a double-double with nine rebounds.
Classmate Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also reached double-digit scoring for the Purple Knights with a season-high 13 points. Stoddart also had seven boards on the night.
The UB women's basketball team is right back in action on Saturday, as the team travels to Southern New Hampshire for its final non-conference game of the season. Tip-time is set for 1:30 p.m.
