Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team scored the first two points of the game on a pair of free throws by junior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) but that was the only lead the Purple Knights would have all afternoon, as UB dropped an East Coast Conference home game to the visiting NYIT Bears, 62-50, on a snowy afternoon in the Park City. Bridgeport is now 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the ECC. NYIT raises its season mark to 6-3 overall, and the Bears are a perfect 2-0 in conference play.
Sophomore Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with 16 points on the afternoon, and Vonleh Finished with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
NYIT's Maia Hood led all scorers and rebounders in the contest with 20 points and 12 boards.
The UB women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column and snap a three-game losing skid on Tuesday night when they host American International College in a non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
