Orangeburg, N.Y.-Junior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and sophomore Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds plus senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) notched her own double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, as the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team edged the host Dominican (N.Y.) College Chargers, 63-60, in the opening game of the 2017 Regina Rivera Classic on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 2-2 overall, and the Chargers remain winless at 0-3.
Bridgeport trailed Dominican by one, 58-57, with 2:24 to play before closing the game out on a 6-2 run to grab the win.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will take on Felician College at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday to close out the Rivera Classic.
