Women's Basketball Drops First Road Contest Of 2017-18 Season At Jefferson University
Rams Top The Purple Knights, 64-53
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team traveled to Philadelphia, Pa. for its first road game of the road game of the 2017-18 season, and the Purple Knights fell to the host Jefferson University Rams, 64-53, on Wednesday evening. With the loss, UB is now 1-2 overall, and the victory keeps the host Rams undefeated at 3-0 in the early going of the season.
Junior center Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) led the Purple Knights notching a double-double with 15 points and a game-best 13 rebounds. Vonleh also blocked five shots on the night. Senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) also reached double-digit scoring with 11 points and fell just shy of her own double-double grabbing nine boards.
The Purple Knights struggled with their long-range shooting on Wednesday night hitting only 2-of-18 three-point shots, and UB also had a tough time from the foul line connecting on only 5-of-13 free threes. Bridgeport committed 21 turnovers in the loss that led to a total of 27 points for the Rams.
Up next. The UB women's basketball team will travel to Dominican (N.Y.) College for the annual Regina Rivera Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Purple Knights will open play with a game against the host Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
