Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team struggled on the offensive end all night long, as the Purple Knights shot only 25.5 percent (14-of-55) from the floor for the game, as UB saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 70-52, East Coast Conference home loss to the visiting NYIT Bears on Wednesday night. Bridgeport is now 11-9 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Bears raise their overall mark to 11-8, and the Bears are 5-6 in the ECC.
Graduate student Anastasia Williams (Central Islip, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring and rebounding on Wednesday notching a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the UB bench.
Senior Camera Miley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Nicole Johnson (Newark, N.J.) were next in scoring for Bridgeport, as they each netted eight points.
Margaret Knollmeyer led NYIT with game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team is in action at Daemen College on Thursday, February 2. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
