Orangeburg, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team picked up its third consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights swept through the Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament hosted by Dominican (N.Y.) College by topping the host Chargers, 63-48. UB is now 3-1 overall, and DC slips to 0-5 on the young season
Junior Aurelie Leblanc-Florent (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada) led Bridgeport with 17 points on the day. Leblanc-Florent also had 17 points in Saturday's win over Felician.
She was joined in double-digit scoring senior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) who had 10 points and also grabbed nine rebounds, and sophomore Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) finished with a double-double of a game-high 11 rebounds and 10 points. Vonleh also blocked four shots to help seal the win.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Hubbell Gym to host Bentley University at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27.
