Purple Knights Cold From the Floor In 64-49 Women's Hoops Loss to Queens (N.Y.) College
Team Continues Homestand On Monday Night Versus Mercy College
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team could never get their offense on track on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights dropped a 64-49 home East Coast Conference decision to the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights. On the day, UB shot only 20.9 percent from the floor, hitting 17-of-55 field goal attempts. In the first half, the Purple Knights shot only 17.2 percent (5-of-29). With the loss, Bridgeport is now 8-17 overall and 6-11 in conference play. Queens ups its overall mark to 16-8, and their ECC record is now 13-5.
Junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) led the Purple Knights with 14 points, and she finished with a double-double grabbing 12 rebounds. Freshman Nicole Johnson (Newark, N.J.) was second on the team in scoring for UB on Saturday with nine points.
Madison Rowland led Queens with 27 points and 17 rebounds, and her sister MacKenzie had another double-double for the winners with 16 points and 10 boards.
The UB women's basketball team will continue its three-game homestand on Monday, when the Purple Knights host Mercy College. Game time in Hubbell Gym is slated for 5:00 p.m.
