Rough Fourth Quarter And Turnovers Plague Women's Basketball In Loss At Molloy
UB Returns Home To Face Queens On Saturday
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team held a one-point, 49-48, lead after three quarters of action, but the host Molloy College Lions opened the fourth quarter on an 18-0 run on their way to a 67-52 East Coast win over the visiting Purple Knights. Molloy outscored UB, 19-3, in the final quarter, and Bridgeport hit its only field goal of the final stanza with just 40 second to play in the contest. The Purple Knights are now 8-16 overall and 6-10 in the ECC. Molloy moves to 9-16 overall and 8-9 in conference play.
Bridgeport committed a total of 24 turnovers on the night that led to 27 points for the winners.
Junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) was the only UB player to reach double-digit scoring on Thursday night with 15 points, and she also grabbed eight rebounds.
The Purple Knights were led on the glass by junior Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden), who grabbed a game-high 11 boards.
Kamani Jackson led four Molloy players in double figures with a game-high 24 points.
The Bridgeport women's basketball team returns home for its next game, when the Purple Knights host Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
