Kadijah Dickson's Near Triple-Double Helps UB Women's Basketball To An 82-77 Overtime Win Over LIU Post
Freshman Scores 24 Points, Grabs 10 Rebounds and Dishes Out Nine Assists
Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team raised its record to 6-11 overall and 4-5 in conference play with an 82-77 overtime win at home in an East Coast Conference match-up versus LIU Post. The Pioneers fall to an overall record of 2-17 and are 1-9 in conference play. The win gives the Purple Knights a season sweep over the Pioneers, as UB prevailed 58-52 on Long Island earlier this season.
LIU Post's Khea Gibbs hit two free throws with 0:48 seconds left to send the game into overtime tied at 68-68. Bridgeport freshman Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) netted seven of the 12 points UB scored in overtime. Dickson led all scorers in the game with 24 points, and she nearly finished with a triple-double grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out nine assists.
Dickson was joined in double figures by four other Purple Knights, as sophomore Aurelie Leblanc-Florent (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada) netted 13 points off the UB bench, freshman Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 12 points, junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) chipped in 11 points and sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) added 10 points for the winners.
Nayasia Davis led LIU Post with 21 points in the loss.
The UB women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday January 30, visiting ECC opponent NYIT. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
