Women's Hoops Starts Fast But Falls At Bentley In Final Non-Conference Contest Of 2015-16 Season
Purple Knights Defeated by The Host Falcons, 69-53
Waltham. Mass.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team got off to strong start on Wednesday leading 20-7 after the first quarter and 24-7 one minute into the second quarter, but the host Bentley University Falcons came back in the second half to outscore the Purple Knights, 40-21, in the third and fourth quarters, as the host team posted a 69-53 non-conference victory. UB is now 4-8 overall; while Bentley ups its overall mark to 10-2.
Freshman Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led UB with 14 points, and she also added four assists. Bridgeport junior Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) finished with a double-double on the day with 10 rebounds and a team-leading 11 rebounds.
Jen Gemma led Bentley with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Wednesday's contest was the final non-conference tilt of the 2015-16 season for the Bridgeport women. The UB women return to the court and East Coast Conference play in the New Year, as the Purple Knights travel to our nation's capital to take on the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday. January 6, 2016. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
