Strong Start Not Enough As Women's Basketball Falls To AIC, 74-62
Kadijah Dickson Leads UB With A Game-High 17 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team led by as many as 18 points with 6:20 to play in the second quarter and the Purple Knights held a 38-21 halftime advantage over the visiting American International College Yellowjackets on Monday night, but AIC put up a total of 53 points in the third and fourth quarters to take a 74-62 non-conference win over the Purple Knights on Monday night. UB is now 1-4 overall in the early going of the 2015-16 campaign, and American International remains unbeaten so far this season at 4-0.
Freshman Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) led Bridgeport in scoring on the night netting a game-high 17 points. She also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. Dickson was joined in double figures by classmate Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 12 points, and sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) had 10 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four blocked shots on the night for the Purple Knights.
Dana Watts led five players in double-digit scoring for the winners with 16 points, and teammate Kamika Mason had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column next Monday night at pace University.
