Bridgeport Women's Basketball Falls To Southern New Hampshire, 84-70, In 2015-16 Season Opener
Freshman Kadijah Dickson Leads UB With 18 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-Four players reached double-digit scoring lead by 18 points from freshman Kadijah Dickson's (Queens, N.Y.) 18 points, but it was not enough as the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell to the visiting Southern New Hampshire University Penmen, 84-70, in the 2015-16 season opener for both teams played as part of the University of Bridgeport Women's Basketball Conference Challenge on Saturday.
SNHU led by a slim, one-point margin, 57-56, heading into the fourth quarter, and the visitors put the game away outscoring their hosts, 27-14, in the final 10 minutes of action.
Joining Dickson in double figures for UB were senior Shannon Holt (Holden, Mass.) and junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden), each with 14 points, plus newcomer, sophomore Aurelie Leblanc-Florent (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada) with 12 points. Holt finished with a double-double grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds, and she also blocked three shots, as did teammate, sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.)
Sara Ryan and Jennifer Shelp led the winners, as the each netted 18 points.
Both teams will be back in action on Sunday at University of Bridgeport Women's Basketball Conference Challenge, as SNHU will take on USciences at 12 noon, and UB will face Southern Connecticut State at 5:00 p.m. in Bridgeport's Hubbell Gym.
