Women's Basketball Falls In ECC Semifinals At NYIT, 78-59

Old Westbury, N.Y.-The third seeded University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell to the second seeded NYIT Lady Bears, 78-59, in the semifinals of the 2013 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament on Friday night on Long Island.  The loss drops Bridgeport's record 18-10, and NYIT advances to Sunday's ECC Championship Final with a 23-4 mark.

Senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) led the Purple Knights with 25 points.  Carter was  joined in double-digit scoring for the Purple Knights by junior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) with 14 points and graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) with 12 points. Carter and Dodoo also had double-doubles on the night as they each grabbed 12 and 10 rebounds respectively.

Rebecca Lynch led NYIT with 21 points.
