Bridgeport Women's Hoops Back In Win Column With 79-57 Home ECC Victory Over Mercy
Purple Knights Now 14-7 Overall And 9-4 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team defeated the Mercy College Mavericks, 79-57, on Wednesday night in East Coast Conference action. The UB women got back on track after having their five-game win streak snapped over the weekend. The Purple Knights jumped out to 10-0 lead in the first half and did not look back as they never trailed in the game and led by as many as 26 points. Bridgeport's record now stands at 14-7 overall and 9-4 in the ECC after the win. Mercy College remains winless on the season, falling to 0-20 overall and 0-12 in the conference.
Graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) led the way for the Purple Knights by scoring a game high 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Sophomore Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) and senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) joined Dodoo in double figures with 12 points and 11 points respectively. Everyone on the Bridgeport roster saw playing time on Wednesday night, and the UB bench outscored the Mustangs bench 28-9.
Up next for the Bridgeport women's basketball team is the Third Annual Donate Life Game this Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. versus Molloy College in the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. All proceeds from the day will go to the Connecticut Donate Life fund to raise awareness for organ and tissue donations to help save lives.
