Senior Tanisha Carter Scores A Game-High 23 Points To Help Lead UB Women's Hoops To 72-66 ECC Home Win Over LIU Post
Bridgeport Women Have Now Won Four In A Row And Six Of Their Last Seven Games
Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport Women's basketball team defeated the LIU Post Pioneers in a hotly-contested East Coast Conference match-up by a final score of 72-66. The Purple Knights continue their winning ways with their fourth straight victory and sixth win in their last seven games, to bring their record to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the East Coast Conference, good for third place in the ECC standings. The loss drops LIU Post to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the conference. Bridgeport shot 53 percent from the field (32-for- 58) en route to the victory despite being out-rebounded 37-22. LIU Post grabbed 15 offensive rebounds which they converted into 18 points.
UB senior Tanisha Carter (E. Hartford, Conn.) led all scorers in the game with 23 points while battling foul trouble, shooting 10-12 from the field and a perfect three-for-three from the foul line.
Three other Purple Knights scored in double figures in the win. Junior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) contributed 13 points and dished five assists; while Jenna Hoffman (So., Manchester Center, V.T.) and Marie Biondi (Sr., W. Haven, Conn.) each added 10 points.
Nicolette Mariniak had a double-double for LIU Post in the loss with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bridgeport women's basketball team hits the road for their next game, heading to the University of the District of Columbia for an ECC contest on Wednesday January 30. Tip off set for 5:00 pm.
