Purple Knights Grab Hard-Fought 63-56 ECC Women's Basketball Win At Molloy
UB Rallies From Nine-Point First Half Deficit To Post Road Victory
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team trailed by as many as nine points, 20-11, in the first half with 9:59 to go, but the Purple Knights stormed back to take a hard-fought, 63-56, East Coast Conference road win over the host Molloy College Lions on Wednesday night on Long Island. The win lifts UB's overall record to 8-5, and the team is 3-2 in conference play. Molloy slips to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the ECC.
Senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) led three Purple Knights in double-figure scoring with a game-high 21 points, and she also grabbed nine rebounds. Carter was an impressive 11 of 12 from the foul line on the evening.
Graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) added 18 points and also had eight boards for the winners, and junior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) chipped in 10 points to complete UB's double-digit scorers.
Kelly Guerriero and Christina Marra led Molloy with nine points apiece.
The UB women's basketball team will look to run its winning streak to three on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 12) when the Purple Knights host conference co-leader and undefeated NYIT. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 1:00 p.m.
