Purple Knights Will Look To Snap Three-Game Losing Skid At Mercy On Saturday
Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks closed out the final 9:59 of the game on a 23-8 run to post a 66-57 come-from-behind East Coast Conference women's basketball victory over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Thursday evening. With the win, RWC is now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the ECC. UB, losers of three straight games, is now 6-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
With the Purple Knights leading 49-43 with 9:59 to go in the second half, Roberts Wesleyan would go on a 11-0 run to take a 54-49 lead with 4:09 to play which they never relinquished.
Bridgeport's Priscilla Dodoo (Grad. Student, Worcester, Mass.) led all players in the game with 21 points, and she also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Dodoo was joined in double figures for the Purple Knights by senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) with 12 points.
The Redhawks were led by Marrisa Sell who scored 16 points and grabbed nine boards off the RWC bench. Sell was joined in double-digit scoring for the winners by Ashley Cianfriglia who netted 10 points.
The Bridgeport women are back in action on Saturday afternoon (January 5) at 12:30 p.m. when they travel to Mercy College for a conference tussle.
