Bentley Uses Fast Start To Post 76-58 Win Over UB Women's Basketball
Number-Two Ranked Falcons Open Game On 12-0 Run And Never Trail; Bridgeport Back In Action On Thursday Versus Roberts Wesleyan
Bridgeport, Conn.-The Bentley University Falcons, who entered Sunday's action as the number two ranked NCAA Division II women's basketball team in the nation, opened the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back, as they led wire-to-wire in a 76-58 non-conference win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights. With the victory, Bentley remains undefeated on the season at 10-0. UB slips to 6-4 overall.
Bentley's Lauren Battista finished with a double-double for the winners netting a game-high 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Bridgeport was led by senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) who scored 20 points.
Graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) had a double-double for the Purple Knights with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
UB's Aziza Patterson (Jr., Teaneck, N.J.) scored 16 points, had eight assists and made five steals, as she played the entire 40 minutes on Sunday.
Kelsey Mattice scored 10 points off the Bentley bench to join Battista in double-figure scoring for the Falcons. The Bentley bench outscored Bridgeport 28-0 on the day.
The Purple Knights are back in action on Thursday, January 3, 2013, when the UB women return to East Conference action looking to snap a two-game losing streak as they host ECC newcomer Roberts Wesleyan College. Tip-off in Hubbell Gym is set for 5:00 p.m.
