Event Helps Raise Awareness And Support The Movement To Defeat Lung Cancer
On Sunday, September 16, the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team along with members UB women's cross country team continued a tradition of community service by participating in the Sixth Annual Free to Breathe Lung Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk in Glastonbury, Connecticut. This event provided an opportunity for lung cancer advocates, survivors and the community to come together to raise awareness and support in the movement to defeat lung cancer. All proceeds were to benefit the National Lung Cancer Partnerships research, education and awareness programs. The teams ran in honor of friends and family who are lung cancer survivors, and in memory of their loved ones that lost their battle with the disease. By participating in the Free to Breathe event, the teams helped increase awareness of the disease and support vital research, making the fight against lung cancer a priority.
