Women's Basketball Edged By NYIT, 66-63
Julia Colley And Tanisha Carter Each Score 14 Points For UB
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell behind 39-25 to the visiting NYIT Bears at the half and could not climb out of that hole, as UB fell 66-63 in an East Coast Conference game on a snowy Saturday. The Purple Knights are now 5-12 overall and 3-4 in conference play. NYIT ups its overall record to 11-6, and the Bears are 5-2 in conference play.
Senior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) and junior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) tied for leading scorer honors for Bridgeport as they each netted 14 points. Colley led the Purple Knights in rebounding with nine boards on the day.
Sophomore Milena Lazarevic (Gmunden, Austria) added 12 points for UB.
Rebecca Lynch led the Bears with a game-high 22 points, and teammate Nikki Jo Rotolo had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Purple Knights will look to snap a two-game losing streak on Wednesday night, as they open an ECC road trip at St. Thomas Aquinas.
