Purple Knights Ice Cold From the Floor All Day Long

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball suffered though a tough day of field goal shooting connecting on only 17 of 65 shots (26.2%), as the Purple Knights dropped a 51-44 home East Coast Conference decision to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday afternoon in Hubbell Gym. Bridgeport is now 5-11 overall and an even 3-3 in conference play. UDC raises its overall mark to 12-3, and the Firebirds are now 3-2 in the ECC. The loss snaps a two-game UB winning streak.
Senior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) led the Purple Knights with 14 points on the day, and she was joined in double figures by junior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) with 12 points. Colley led UB on the board with eight rebounds.
UDC was led by Lauren Brittingham who netted a game-high 21 points. Dohnay Banice fell just short of a double-double for the Firebirds with nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Bridgeport women will look to get back in the win column next Saturday (January 21) when they host NYIT. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
