Edna Marant And Tanisha Carter Help Lead UB Women's Hoops To Tough 76-68 ECC Win Over Molloy
Purple Knights Now 3-2 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-Senior Edna Marant (Philadelphia, Pa.) notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and junior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) led the team in scoring with 22 points as the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team posted a hard-fought 76-68 home East Coast Conference win over the visiting Molloy College Lions on Wednesday night. The game featured 54 fouls between the two teams and a combined 62 free throw attempts. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 5-10 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Molloy slips to 7-8 overall, and the Lions are also 3-2 in the ECC.
Carter and Marant were also joined in double-digit scoring for UB by senior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) with 13 points and sophomore Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) who netted 12 points.
Molloy's Amanda Bartlett led four Lions in double figures with 22 points.
Another key to Bridgeport's win over Molloy was the Purple Knights dominance on the glass, as UB outrebounded the Lions, 42-26.
The Bridgeport women are back in action at home on Saturday afternoon when they host the University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference contest that begins in Hubbell Gym at 1:00 p.m.
